Recticel and Sika win Perifem award for energy-saving Light Roof system
Recticel and Sika were recognised at the recent Perifem Day in France for their innovative Light Roof system for industrial, commercial and logistics buildings. The result of a collaboration between Recticel Insulation and specialist chemical company Sika, the system was the winner in the Energy Category.
Saving energy and costs
The Light Roof system is an all-in-one solution consisting of the extremely lightweight Powerdeck+ insulation board and Sika’s Sarnafil TS77 solar reflective membrane. Its light weight enables the renovation of steel sheet flat roofs and the installation of photovoltaic panels without the need to reinforce the existing roof construction. This also means that the building can continue to operate normally during the works. In new building projects, Light Roof allows steel structures to be smaller, helping to reduce construction costs and lower the building’s carbon footprint.
Supporting regulatory compliance
Light Roof was introduced in France, where it supports compliance with the regulatory requirement to install photovoltaic panels on the roofs of existing commercial buildings over 500 m2. It simultaneously helps businesses meet the obligation to reduce energy consumption for buildings with a floor area of 1,000 m2 or more by at least 40% in 2030, 50% in 2040 and 60% by 2050.
